California fined Uber for failure to cooperate in attack investigation

 Travel agency Uber Technologies Inc. was fined $ 59 million on Monday. A U.S. dollar fine for failing to provide the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) with information on certain allegations of sexual abuse and harassment.



According to the order, Uber's permit may be suspended if the fine is not paid within 30 days.

Last year, an administrative judge ordered Uber to answer questions related to a safety report it published in 2019 that contained details of sexual assault incidents in the United States in 2017, 2018, and 2019.


"The CPUC has insisted that we have a tendency to disclose the names and contact details of these we tend to are sexually abused while not their consent," Uber aforesaid in an exceeding statement. "We have resisted this stunning breach of privacy, along side several victims' rights activists."


Although the CPUC has stated that the information may now be anonymous, Uber is still required to pay a fine.
