Despite West Brom's draw at Manchester City, Slaven Bilic had to be fired

Slaven Bilic looks set to be fired on West Bromo on Wednesday, despite his side battling for an expensive point at Manchester City.

On Tuesday, Albion secured a 1: 1 draw for Etihad, but there is speculation around the stadium that the 52-year-old was scheduled for the Hawthorns crisis.

Bilic will be the first victim of the Premier League campaign as the Baggies want to breathe life into their bid to survive the top flight.

Nigel Pearson and Sam Allardyce are already named as his successors, and Albion is unlikely to pay compensation for Bilico’s deputy. At the end of the season, the former Croatian manager did not have a contract and, although his side will lead to a City draw on Tuesday night, there were doubts about the style of play and the results.

Asked about the speculation at Etihad Stadium, Bilich said: “I am very calm. I love my job. I am here and calm. To be fair, it doesn’t bother me. I do my job. I love it. I work hard for myself, my staff, the players, the club, everything. Everything else does not belong to me.

“But to be fair, I’m just doing everything. I don’t think about other things. It doesn't really bother me what's going on behind the scenes and everything else, I don't care. "

Asked if the result showed West Brom still playing for him, Bilic replied, “I don’t like that cliché.

“The players play themselves, but they listen to our game plan and it’s very good to see how your players are fighting that way. We have such an atmosphere, such a working atmosphere all season and it has not diminished. Sometimes games win, sometimes they lose, sometimes you play better, and sometimes worse, but we've never had a problem with attitude. "

Bilico's relationship with the West Brom board had risen and fallen since entering the Premier League, reaching a new low in October when Albion sold Ahmed Hegazi.

The manager executed the deal, saying the club had not kept its promises on the Egyptian defender because he had been allowed to join Saudi Arabia's £ 4m deal just 24 hours before their trip to Brighton.

At the time, Bilic said: “I am very disappointed with the departure from Hegazi because I was sure he stayed this week ... he had to play today, he is the best professional, he had to wait for his chance, but for his to know how.

“I counted him a big time, losing him essentially on Sunday morning, finding out yesterday really disappointed me.

"It really wasn't my decision, it wasn't a football decision, I'm very disappointed that we're a team that needs all of our good players."
