'We gotta be better': Cleveland drops to 9-4 on season, with a 4-game winning streak

The Browns and the Ravens played an immediate classic in front of a national television audience on Monday night.

Browns lose a heartbreaker of a game against Ravens 47-42

Baltimore broke a 42-yard tie with 7 seconds left when Justin Tucker kicked a 55-yard field goal for the Ravens for the winning margin. The team eventually won 47-42.

“This team is fighting. "I'm really proud of them, but we have to be better," Browns full-back Baker Mayfield said after the game.

The two teams scored 20 points in the final 2 minutes of the game before the Ravens escaped with the win.

Mayfield said the team left a lot of points on the board in the first half, but it was an interception he threw in the third quarter that opened the door for the Ravens to take a 34-20 lead.

It was Mayfield's first interception after five consecutive games without one. But after the interception, the Browns galvanized and fought back. Mayfield throws a 21-year-old attack to Rashard Higgins to reduce the lead to 34-28.

Mayfield then scored a five-yard touchdown to give Cleveland a 6:33 lead, 35-34.

Lamar Jackson, who went to the locker room and missed two series, returned to the field and hurled a 44-year-old pass to Marquise Brown. That gave Baltimore a 42-35 lead.

"He's an excellent player," said head coach Kevin Stefanski. We had lightning and he made a play. ”

Despite being 42-35 down, Mayfield drove the Browns down the field and hit Kareem Hunt on a 22-yard shot. The extra point makes it 42, but there was too much time for the Ravens to pull this one off. Jackson drove 38 yards in six plays in less than a minute to set up the Tucker 55 yard, which divided the standing and sank the hearts of Browns fans everywhere.

Cleveland is now 9-4 and passes a 4-game winning streak.

'Of course I'm very disappointed. We were not clean enough to win, "said coach Stefanski.

The Browns travel eastward Sunday night and play again on national TV against the Giants under the light.
